Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 2 (ANI): Unnati Sharma’s bronze medal-winning performance in the women’s 63kg judo event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 has brought immense pride to her family, with her sister Riya Sharma saying the judoka’s next goal is to compete at the Olympics.

Speaking to ANI, Riya said the medal was a moment of pride for Unnati’s state, country, college, school and the forest department, while recalling the hard work and challenges her younger sister faced during her career.

“She’s made us all very proud, whether it’s her state, country, college, school, or the forest department. She’s worked hard since she was little. She’s had her ups and downs, and before this medal, she was struggling a bit, thinking things weren’t going well. But now that she’s won the bronze, she’s very happy, and so are we. We hoped for gold, but we’re still thrilled with the bronze," Riya said. realschule-moosburg.de

Riya said Unnati has been pursuing judo since the fifth grade and has spent nearly 10-15 years in the sport.

“She’s been playing judo since the 5th grade, for about 10-15 years now. We’re happy she got the result she wanted–her goal was to win a medal in the Commonwealth Games. Her next goal is the Olympics, and I hope she achieves it," she said.

Riya also expressed pride in being recognised as Unnati’s sister, saying she hoped the young judoka would continue to win medals for the country.

“She’s the youngest of us, and while people usually say the older ones make a name for themselves, I’m proud to be known through my younger sister. I hope she keeps winning medals," she added.

Unnati claimed the bronze medal after producing a superb Ippon victory over South Africa’s Skye Knoester in the bronze-medal contest.

Unnati required just 1 minute and 7 seconds to finish the contest, executing a perfectly timed leg hook that sent her opponent onto her back for a clean Ippon–the highest possible score in judo.

The victory added another medal to India’s successful judo campaign, following the two gold medals and one silver secured by the contingent earlier in the competition. (ANI)

મહિલાઓની 78 કિગ્રા શ્રેણીમાં ઇશ્રુપ નારંગ, પુરુષોની 100 કિગ્રા શ્રેણીમાં અવતાર સિંહ અને પુરુષોની +100 કિગ્રા શ્રેણીમાં યશ ઘંઘાસ ભારતના મેડલ માટે સ્પર્ધા કરશે. ભારત જુડોમાં પહેલાથી જ ચાર મેડલ જીતી ચૂક્યું છે. જો આ ત્રણ ખેલાડીઓ સફળ થાય છે, તો ભારતની કુલ મેડલ ટેલી 40 ને વટાવી શકે છે. ત્રણેય ખેલાડીઓની પ્રારંભિક સ્પર્ધા બપોરે યોજાશે. જો તેઓ જીતશે, તો તેઓ ક્વાર્ટર ફાઇનલ, સેમિફાઇનલ અને પછી મેડલ મુકાબલામાં આગળ વધશે. જુડો સેમિફાઇનલ ભારતીય સમય મુજબ સાંજે 7:30 વાગ્યે શરૂ થશે.

• અવતાર સિંહનો મુકાબલો પુરુષોના 100 કિગ્રા રાઉન્ડ ઓફ 16 માં સાયપ્રસના એરિસ્ટોસ માઈકલ સામે થશે, જે બપોરે 2:30 વાગ્યે શરૂ થશે.
• યશ ઘંગાસનો મુકાબલો પુરુષોના 100 કિગ્રા પ્લસ રાઉન્ડ ઓફ 16 માં વેલ્સના જોશુઆ વ્હાઇટહાઉસ સામે થશે, જે બપોરે 2:30 વાગ્યે શરૂ થશે.
• જો આ ત્રણ ખેલાડીઓ તેમના શરૂઆતના મુકાબલા જીતશે, તો તેઓ સાંજે 7:30 વાગ્યે શરૂ થતા મેડલ રાઉન્ડમાં આગળ વધશે.

ટ્રેક સાયકલિંગ

• હર્ષવીર સિંહ સેખોન (હીટ 1) અને દિનેશ કુમાર (હીટ 2) બપોરે 2:09 વાગ્યે શરૂ થનારા પુરુષોની 40 કિમી પોઈન્ટ રેસ ક્વોલિફાઇંગ રાઉન્ડમાં ભાગ લેશે.
• રોનાલ્ડો સિંહ લૈતોંજમ બપોરે 3:51 વાગ્યે શરૂ થનારા પુરુષોની 1000 મીટર ટાઇમ ટ્રાયલ ફાઇનલમાં ભારતના પડકારનું નેતૃત્વ કરશે.
• લિશા દાસ રાત્રે 8:40 વાગ્યે શરૂ થનારા મહિલાઓની C4-C5 1000 મીટર ટાઇમ ટ્રાયલ ફાઇનલમાં ભાગ લેશે.
• પુરુષોની 40 કિમી પોઈન્ટ રેસની ફાઇનલ રાત્રે 9:09 વાગ્યે શરૂ થશે, જેમાં હર્ષવીર સિંહ સેખોન અને દિનેશ કુમાર ક્વોલિફાઇ થાય તો ભાગ લેશે.

અમદાવાદીઓ 2030ની કોમનવેલ્થમાં ભાગ લેવા માટે તૈયાર રહેજો

કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ 2030 માટે અમદાવાદે તૈયારીઓ શરુ કરી દીધી છે. ગ્લાસ્ગોમાં ચાલી રહેલી કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ 2026ની ક્લોજિંગ સેરેમની દરમિયાન અમદાવાદને કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સનો ઝંડો અને બૈટન મળશે. જેના માટે ગુજરાતના નાયબ મુખ્યમંત્રી હર્ષ સંધવી ગ્લાસગો કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સમાં પહોંચ્યા છે. ક્લોઝિંગ સેરેમની દરમિયાન સાંસ્કૃતિક કાર્યક્રમની સાથે કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સનો ઝંડો અને મેજબાન બૈટન આફિશિયલ રીતે અમદાવાદના પ્રતિનિધિઓને સોંપવામાં આવશે.

કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ 2026માં ભારતે એવી સ્ટોરી લખી છે. જે વર્ષો સુધી યાદ રહેશે. કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સના 10માં દિવસે 16 મેડલ જીત્યા હતા. CWG 2026નો 10મો દિવસ ભારતીય બોક્સરોના નામે રહ્યો હતો. જેમાં ગોલ્ડ મેડલનો વરસાદ થયો હતો. ભારતે એક જ દિવસમાં જીતેલા 16 મેડલમાંથી અડધાં ગોલ્ડ મેડલ હતા. જેની ભારતને મેડલ ટેલીમાં મોટો ફાયદો થયો છે. એક જ ઝાટકે 6 ટીમને પછાડી હતી.

મેડલ ટેલીમાં ભારતે મોટી છલાંગ લગાવી

મેડલ ટેલીમાં ભારતે પહેલા 5 ગોલ્ડ,12 સિલ્વર અને 6 બ્રોન્ઝ મેડલ સાથે કુલ 23 મેડલ જીતી 10માં સ્થાને હતુ. પરંતુ રમતના 10માં દિવસ આખી બાજી પલટી હતી. કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સના મેડલ ટેલીમાં મોટો ફેરફાર ભારતે કર્યો હતો. માત્ર મેડલ જીતી સંખ્યામાં વધારો કર્યો નથી. પરંતુ તેના રેન્કિંગમાં પણ સારો વધારો થયો છે. 10માં દિવસે ભારતે 8 ગોલ્ડ મેડલ , 5 સિલ્વર અને 3 બ્રોન્ઝની સાથે 16 મેડલ જીત્યા હતા. એક દિવસમાં મળેલી આટલી મોટી સફળતા સાથે મેડલની સંખ્યા 13 ગોલ્ડ મેડલ, 17 સિલ્વર મેડલ અને 9 બ્રોન્ઝ મેડલ સાથે 39 સુધી પહોંચી હતી

રેન્કિંગમાં ભારત સીધું 10માં સ્થાનથી ચોથા સ્થાને પહોંચ્યું

રેન્કિંગમાં ભારત સીધું 10માં સ્થાનથી ચોથા સ્થાને પહોંચ્યું હતુ.CWGમાં ભારતનું સર્વશ્રેષ્ઠ પ્રદર્શન 2010માં દિલ્લીમાં રહ્યું હતુ. ત્યારથી તેમણે 38 ગોલ્ડ મેડલ સાથે કુલ 101 મેડલ જીત્યા હતા. મેડલ ટેલીમાં બીજા નંબરે રહ્યું હતુ. ભારતના 10માંથી 7 મેડલ બોક્સરે જીત્યા હતા.CWG 2026 પછી મેડલ ટેલીમાં ટોપની 10 ટીમો 10 દિવસ બાદ જોઈએ. તો પહેલા સ્થાને ઓસ્ટ્રેલિયા, બીજા સ્થાને ઈંગ્લેન્ડ, ત્રીજા સ્થાને કેનેડા, ચોથા સ્થાને ભારત, પાંચમાં સ્થાને સ્કોટલેન્ડ ત્યારબાદ ક્રમશ નાઈઝીરિયા, જમૈકા, ન્યુઝીલેન્ડ,વેલ્સ અને 10માં સ્થાને મલેશિયાની ટીમ રહી હતી.

કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ 2030માં અમદાવાદમાં રમાશે

ભારત 2030 માં કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સનું આયોજન કરશે. ગ્લાસગોમાં ગેમ્સના સમાપન સમારોહમાં આગામી યજમાન અમદાવાદની ઝલક જોવા મળશે.કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સની શરૂઆત 1930માં કેનેડાના હેમિલ્ટનમાં થઈ હતી. 2030માં અમદાવાદમાં યોજાનારી કોમનવેલ્થ ગેમ્સ ગેમ્સના100મા વર્ષને ઉજવશે. ત્યારે અમદાવાદમાં કોમનવેલ્થ 2030 યોજાવાની છે.જેને લઈ અમદાવાદ સહિત ગુજરાતના લોકો ખુબ જ ખુસ છે.

New Delhi [India], August 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed athletes Gulveer Singh and Unnati Sharma for winning bronze medals in athletics and judo, respectively, at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

In a post on X, PM Modi congratulated Gulveer Singh for securing the bronze medal in the men’s 5000m event and hailed his historic achievement.

“History made by Gulveer Singh! He wins the Bronze Medal in the Men’s 5000 m event at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Congratulations to him. With this remarkable performance, he became the first Indian athlete to win two athletics medals at a single Commonwealth Games. He is also the first-ever Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the Men’s 5000 m event. This is indeed a landmark achievement for Indian athletics. My best wishes to him," PM Modi said.

Gulveer’s bronze in the 5000m came after he had earlier won a medal in the men’s 10,000m event, making him the first Indian athlete to secure two athletics medals at a single edition of the Commonwealth Games.

The Prime Minister also congratulated judoka Unnati Sharma for winning bronze in the women’s 63kg category.

“More glory for India in Judo! Congratulations to Unnati Sharma for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 63 kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Her commitment and determination were clearly visible during the games. May she keep excelling in all her forthcoming endeavours," PM Modi said in another post on X.

Meanwhile, India enjoyed a strong medal-winning day at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday, with athletes across boxing, athletics, para athletics and judo adding to the country’s medal tally.

Indian boxers dominated the competition, winning seven gold medals and three silver medals.

In para athletics, Soman Rana won gold and Shubham Juyal secured silver in the men’s F57 shot put event. Athletics also brought two medals for India, with Praveen Chithravel winning silver and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran claiming bronze in the men’s triple jump.

India’s other athletes had mixed results across events. Karanjit Singh Maan and Inunganbi Takhellambam were knocked out in their respective judo repechage bouts, while track cyclists David Beckham, Ronaldo Singh and Rojit Singh exited the men’s sprint qualification.

In para athletics, Ramesh Shanmugam finished seventh in the men’s 1500m T54. Priyanka Goswami finished fourth in the women’s 10,000m race walk, while Ravina Gayakwad was disqualified.

Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon failed to finish the men’s 10km scratch race qualifying event, while the men’s pairs team of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar was knocked out by England in bowls. Nayanmoni Saikia also exited the women’s singles sectional play after losing to South Africa’s Bridget Herselman.

In athletics, Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar finished outside the medal positions in the men’s pole vault final, while the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team of Vishal TK, Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur and Neeru Pathak finished sixth.

India will enter the final day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 on Sunday with an impressive haul of 39 medals, comprising 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze. (ANI)

Glasgow [Scotland], August 2 (ANI): Indian athletes Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran secured silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the men’s triple jump at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with both athletes expressing pride in their performances and thanking their families and support teams.

Speaking to ANI, Chithravel said he was happy to win a silver medal after narrowly missing out on a podium finish.

“I’m really so happy to get the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games. In 2022, during my last Commonwealth Games, I lost medal by 2 cm. So, right, I am happy to get the silver medal," Chithravel said.

The Indian athlete said the cold conditions made the competition challenging but added that he continued to push himself to deliver his best.

“I didn’t have any pressure, but it’s too cold; my body doesn’t move, but I just keep trying to do my best. I always keep pushing myself to give the best," he said.

Chithravel also spoke about his family background, saying, “My father is farmer and my mother is housewife. I built everything on my own".

Looking ahead, Chithravel said his focus would now shift to the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4 in Japan.

“Next, I am focusing on the Asian Games," he added.

Meanwhile, Selva Prabhu, who clinched the bronze medal, said he was proud of himself and his parents, adding that representing India had been a long-standing dream for his family.

“I am feeling very proud of myself and my parents. This was a dream for them from the start. They always wanted me to represent India. I’m really happy," he told ANI.

Selva Prabhu said he remained focused on his performance.

“I was focused on medal. I was more focused on performance. Getting medal for India is a great thing," he said.

The athlete dedicated his medal to everyone who supported him throughout his journey. “I dedicate this medal to whoever supported me, my coaches, physios, teammates, friends, and family. They are always my backbone."

Chithravel produced a best effort of 16.58m on his fourth attempt to claim the silver medal, while Selva Prabhu registered a best jump of 16.52m to finish third and take bronze. Chithravel initially stood fifth after the opening three rounds, with a 16.05m effort on his first attempt. He then improved to 16.31m in the third round before producing his 16.58m leap in the fourth attempt to briefly move into the lead.
