Super Giants win Hundred title with SA pair

Leus du Plooy and Heinrich Klaasen were crowned Men’s Hundred champions after Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets by five wickets in the final at Lord’s.

The Rockets posted 158-8 from their 100 balls, with Aneurin Donald striking 38 off 19 and Lewis Gregory adding 32 off 16. Klaasen contributed in the field by taking two catches, while Noor Ahmad claimed 3-33.

Tim Seifert powered the Super Giants’ chase with 72 off 38 balls, smashing four fours and seven sixes before falling to Mohammad Amir.

South African-born du Plooy provided composure during the second half of the innings, finishing unbeaten on 27 off 18 balls. His innings included four boundaries.

Klaasen made 11 off nine before becoming one of Amir’s three victims as the Rockets threatened a late turnaround.

With three required from the final five balls, Liam Dawson struck a six to take the Super Giants to 162-5 after 98 balls and secure their first Men’s Hundred title.

Du Plooy remained at the crease as Manchester completed a memorable five-wicket victory.
