Corbin Bosch lead the Proteas bowling attack with four wickets as South Africa restricted Australia to 322-9 at Potchefstroom, setting up a chase of 323, Australia’s highest-ever ODI total at the ground and a target that would be the highest successful chase in the stadium’s history.
Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh laid a strong foundation, before Head fell to Bosch for 24 and Marsh, who had raced to 56 off 42 balls with two sixes, was trapped lbw by Bjorn Fortuin. Cooper Connolly followed shortly after, bowled by Coetzee for 23 as Australia slipped to 118-3.

Matt Renshaw made 30 before he was caught by Aiden Markram off Coetzee, and Xavier Bartlett was bowled by Williams for just 2.
Cameron Green struck 23 off 18 balls before he was caught behind by Quinton de Kock, completing Bosch’s four-wicket haul, and Pat Cummins added a quick 11 before he was caught by Matthew Breetzke off Williams, Williams’ second wicket. Mitchell Starc and Adam Zampa were unbeaten at the end, as Australia closed on 322-9 from their 50 overs.
