C’est désormais officiel. Après plusieurs saisons marquées par des prêts successifs, Yasser Larouci tourne définitivement la page de l’ESTAC Troyes. L’international algérien s’est engagé avec Le Mans FC, où il a signé un contrat courant jusqu’en 2029. Le club sarthois a officialisé son arrivée ce mardi à travers un communiqué enthousiaste. « Le Mans FC est heureux d’annoncer l’arrivée de Yasser Larouci. Le piston gauche au parcours déjà riche s’est engagé avec le Club jusqu’en 2029 », a communiqué le club via ses canaux de communication.
Arrivé à Troyes en 2021 en provenance de Liverpool, Larouci n’a jamais réussi à s’imposer durablement sous les couleurs de l’ESTAC. Au fil des saisons, il a multiplié les prêts afin de retrouver du temps de jeu. Son dernier passage en date s’est déroulé en Grèce, où il évoluait sous les couleurs de Kifisia lors de la saison 2025-2026.
En rejoignant Le Mans FC, Yasser Larouci espère désormais relancer sa carrière dans un projet qui lui offrira davantage de stabilité. L’ancien joueur de Liverpool apportera son expérience, acquise entre la France, l’Angleterre, et la Grèce, à un effectif mancelle ambitieux.
Ce transfert marque ainsi la fin de l’aventure troyenne pour l’international algérien, qui tentera de retrouver son meilleur niveau sous ses nouvelles couleurs.

President Ruto Promises Goodies For National Women’s Teams Ahead Of World Cup And WAFCON
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14 – President William Ruto has pledged that the government will match the support received by the men’s national football team for their women’s counterparts.
Ruto made the remarks on Tuesday when hosting the teams (Junior Starlets, who qualified for a second FIFA Under-17 World Cup, and their seniors, Harambee Starlets, who also qualified for their second Women’s Africa Cup of Nations) at State House for breakfast.
In response to direct appeals from the team leadership, President Ruto delivered an unequivocal promise to honor their requests and eliminate any financial or off-pitch distractions.
“I have been briefed that all allowances have been paid, about Ksh 33 million, and if there are any other pending issues, we shall make sure that everyone is taken care of.”
Beyond immediate financial match tokens, the physical toll of elite sports was a major point of discussion.
Junior Starlets captain Beverlyne Awuor voiced the players’ deep anxieties regarding career-threatening injuries and the lack of accessible, specialized medical care.
President Ruto responded with an immediate guarantee to secure their physical well-being through comprehensive health coverage.
“You have asked for medical insurance, and I agree with you 100 percent. From now on, we shall make sure that you have medical insurance that will cover everything, including the surgery you talked about.”
Harambee Starlets captain Mwanalima Adam, alongside her Junior Starlets counterpart, reminded the President of the immense backing the men’s team, Harambee Stars, enjoyed during their CHAN 2024 campaign.
During that tournament, the men’s side was promised Ksh 1 million each per victory and Ksh 500,000 per draw in the group stage.
The Stars delivered a brilliant unbeaten run to top Group A, highlighted by wins over DR Congo and Morocco that triggered an immediate Ksh 42 million payout, before their fairytale ended in a heartbreaking quarterfinal penalty shootout against Madagascar.
Directly addressing the captain’s appeal to fulfill his promise to reward the women’s teams for their historic qualification campaigns, President Ruto assured them they would not walk alone.
“You have reminded me how we walked with Harambee Stars during CHAN 2024, and be assured we will walk with you. We shall plan and see how we can walk together. I will be following,” the president noted.
The Junior Starlets have been drawn in a difficult Pool where they will face powerhouse USA, China, and Samoa in Group E of the global showpiece, slated to kick off from October 7 to November 7 in Morocco.
On the other hand, Harambee Starlets face hosts Morocco, Algeria, and Senegal in the continental bonanza slated for July 26 to August 16 in Morocco.

Bring WAFCON Home! Coach Odemba Urges Kenya To Bid For WAFCON 2028
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 14 – Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has challenged the government to think bigger on the continental stage, urging the country to bid for the hosting rights of the 2028 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Speaking on Tuesday when hosting Junior Starlets and Harambee Starlets for breakfast at State House, Odemba stated that with Kenya co-hosting the men’s AFCON 2027, the structural foundation is already laid to bring the biggest women’s tournament to Kenyan soil.
With the country actively renovating and building world-class stadia like the Raila Odinga Talanta City International Stadium, in preparation for AFCON, Odemba pointed out that Kenya is uniquely positioned to transition directly into hosting the women’s showpiece the following year.
“President, we are hosting AFCON in 2027. There will be another WAFCON in 2028,” Odemba stated passionately. “President, you have already built the stadiums, the infrastructure is there, and we are ready. Bring WAFCON home. We request you.”
Hosting the tournament would mark a historic first for East Africa and cement Kenya’s growing status as a continental football powerhouse.
Before looking ahead to 2028, the Starlets’ immediate focus is conquering the 2026 edition in Morocco, which kicks off on 25 July, 2026.
To ensure millions of Kenyans can rally behind the team, Odemba made a direct appeal to the President to secure the broadcasting rights for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, just as they did for the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
“We are watching the free-to-air World Cup. I request that you allow our national broadcaster to get the rights to air the WAFCON. It will be good for Kenyans to watch us play, to cheer, and to walk with us through the journey. If it is possible, Mr. President, we are going to be grateful,” Odemba noted.
With the Junior Starlets securing back-to-back FIFA U17 World Cup qualifications, Odemba highlighted the unique challenge of the tournament’s annual format.
Unlike senior competitions, the rapid-cycle nature of youth football demands continuous, elite-level coordination.
To maintain this momentum, she called for formal contracts for her technical staff while proposing a massive structural alliance between the ministries of sports and education.
“The Under-17 World Cup is annual, which means after the qualifiers, they play, then they begin preparation again. As the players have asked for contracts, I also kindly ask for contracts for my technical bench,” she explained.
She further urged the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Salim Mvurya, and his Education counterpart, Julius Ogamba, to collaborate closely with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) to scout talent to have a team every year qualifying for the U17 World Cup.
“It will be good for us as a government to have a collaboration so that we can identify good talent and have consistency in qualifying. If we can qualify every year, then that means we’re going to be a powerhouse in football in the coming few years. And it is very possible, Mr. President.”
