Sæten mister EM: – Helt uvirkelig
En belastningsskade i akillesen gjør at mellomdistanseløperen, Amalie Manshaus Sæten, må droppe EM.
– Jeg har vært utrolig lei meg hele uka. Det er helt uvirkelig å ikke kunne løpe, jeg har egentlig aldri vært skadet, sier Sæten til NRK og legger til.
– Akillesen har plaget meg i en lengre periode nå, så det er skikkelig kjipt.
Etter sitt siste løp før mesterskapet, klarte ikke 28-åringen å gå på flere dager.
– Det er sårhet og stivhet i akillesen som gjør at jeg verken bøye den eller gå på den, meddeler Sæten.
Hun skulle i teorien ha stilt på distansen 5000 meter på tirsdag i Birmingham.
I stedet risikerer den velmeritterte løperen operasjon.
– Jeg skal til kirurg for å vurdere operasjon, men det er ingen garanti for at det vil hjelpe, påpeker Sæten.

Larry Fitzgerald refuses to call himself "retired"
Larry Fitzgerald will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame today, and he'll turn 43 years old this month. It seems safe to say he's done playing professional football.
But don't call Fitzgerald "retired."
Fitzgerald told the Cardinals' website that he never plans to use that word to describe where he is in life.
"I have not committed to retirement," Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald recalls hearing his grandfather talk with friends about how when people retire, they give up. And giving up is not something Fitzgerald ever wants to do.
"They'd talk about retirement killing more people in our country than anything," Fitzgerald said. "It always stuck with me. I just don't believe in retirement. I just think you transition into different phases, especially as an athlete. I was done at 38. Retire? There is no retirement in sight. I protest the word more than the actual thing. So I just won't acknowledge that."
When Fitzgerald confirmed after his 17th season with the Cardinals that he wouldn't be back for an 18th, he studiously avoided the word "retirement." It's still not a word he'll use. Fitzgerald knows he has a lot more to do with his life.

Paris is staging its first high-diving competition in the Seine, with athletes launching themselves from a 20-metre platform in front of the Eiffel Tower – a spectacular new test of the city’s effort to reclaim its river for sport. The event on the Pont de Bir-Hakeim has also exposed the fragility of that ambition.
Organisers suspended training on Thursday when traces of hydrocarbons were detected upstream. By Friday, the French Swimming Federation said the affected area had been treated, allowing athletes to return to the water and the event to proceed as planned. High diving concludes on Saturday with the final two rounds and medal events, while the broader European Aquatics Championships run through to 16 August.
