Attendees will be able to check out a demo of The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past behind closed doors at PAX Australia
I'm looking forward to an expansion for a game from 2015 more than I am for pretty much any new game coming up. The Songs of the Past add-on for The Witcher 3, which will be out next year, promises to let us explore a whole new region and get to know Dandelion better than ever. I'm more interested in a brand new chunk of world than intimate moments with the bard, but more Witcher 3 is more Witcher 3 even if the focus isn't on everyone's actual favorite character. Songs of the Past was shown off at Gamescom, where our Joshua Wolens had a peek and said it looked real good. The rest of us will have to wait for other opportunities, like the one that's been announced as part of the PAX Australia schedule reveal. On Saturday, October 11, attendees will be able to join members of CD Projekt and DLC developer Fool's Theory for a behind-closed-doors live demo of Songs of the Past, and a panel discussion to follow.
Other events planned for the three-day event include Storytime with World of Warcraft executive producer Holly Longdale, Final Fantasy 14 veterans Koji Fox and Toshio 'Foxclon' Murouchi suffering through a hot-sauce interview in "A Realm Reburned", and Saros' creative director Gregory Louden talking about a career that's included work on games like Control and Returnal.
The tabletop side of gaming will also be well covered with Jasmine 'ThatBronzeGirl' Bhullar, Dungeon Master of the official Dungeons & Dragons liveplay and Dimension 20's Coffin Run, talking about the art of storytelling, and fellow Dimension 20 alumnus Ify Nwadiwe taking part in a D&D one-shot with Deerstalker Pictures.
Other guests include composer Mick Gordon and fantasy author Isobelle Carmody. PAX Australia runs from October 9–11 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the full schedule is online at the PAX website now.

Alex de Minaur leads Australia team to face Poland in tie in Brisbane
Max Purcell, the grand slam doubles champion left shattered when having to serve a ban for an anti-doping breach, is back in the Australian tennis fold, selected as part of Lleyton Hewitt’s Davis Cup team to face Poland.
The 28-year-old Purcell, who received widespread sympathy throughout tennis from those who felt the 18-month ban was unfair and smacked of double standards, could play his first Davis Cup rubber for two years next week.
