Nordsjælland End Mostafa Shobeir Pursuit After Al Ahly Rebuff
FC Nordsjælland have reportedly ended their pursuit of Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir after their proposed financial package was rejected.
The Danish Superliga side explored a move through Shobeir’s representatives but did not return with an improved proposal after Al Ahly made clear that they intended to keep the 26-year-old. librea.one
The Cairo giants rejected Nordsjælland’s approach because of the low financial terms. The proposal is said to have been between approximately $500,000 and $600,000.
The goalkeeper’s current contract expires in June 2027, leaving him able to negotiate with other clubs from January if he does not renew.
Al Ahly has offered him a three-year contract extension and is awaiting his response. The club also plans to increase his salary after his development into the first-choice goalkeeper.
Shobeir also recently appointed the UK-based agency CAA Base as his new representatives.
Nordsjælland had exercised their purchase option in May for Ibrahim Adel after a brief loan spell, with the winger signing a permanent contract until June 2029.
Nordsjælland football director Alexander Riget said the transfer strengthened the club’s relationship with Egyptian football and its Right to Dream academy in Egypt.
Shobeir, for now, remains with Al Ahly unless another club submits an offer that meets their valuation before the transfer window closes.

Neymar to miss Brazil's second World Cup game against Haiti
Morristown, United States: Neymar will not travel with the Brazil squad for Friday's second World Cup group game against Haiti as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.
The 34-year-old has only returned to training with the national team this week and missed the five-time World Cup winners' opening 1-1 draw with Morocco in Group C.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti said last week he was hopeful Neymar would be ready to play some part in the game against Haiti in Philadelphia.
Neymar was diagnosed in late May with an injury to his right calf, and has featured in just half of the games for his club Santos this year due to various fitness issues.
Ancelotti and his coaching staff are reluctant to rush the return of Brazil's all-time record goalscorer and compromise his availability for matches later in the tournament, according to Brazilian media.
Neymar, who has not played for his country since October 2023, "will remain in New Jersey to make the most of the final stage of his recovery process", the Brazilian Football Confederation said in a message sent to journalists on Thursday.
Brazil's final group stage game is against Scotland in Miami on June 24.
Eala powers past Pegula for first WTA title in Washington
Washington, United States: Alexandra Eala capped her giant-killing run at the Washington Open with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory over top-seeded Jessica Pegula on Monday to become the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA title.
Eala, ranked 28th, overpowered Pegula over the final two sets as play resumed in the final suspended after lengthy weather delays on Sunday.

Playing in her second final, after a runner-up finish at Eastbourne last year, the 21-year-old left-hander produced a rock-solid service display and an impressive array of winners to deny third-ranked Pegula a 12th career title and a third this year.
The scoreboard showed a match time of one hour and 45 minutes, but it took nearly 24 hours to complete.
Pegula had won the first set 6-4 and Eala was up 2-1 in the second on Sunday when officials postponed the finish until Monday after lengthy rain delays.
The pair had waited through a three-hour delay before starting, and once the match was halted it was another five hours before officials called a halt for the day.
That also saw the ATP final between 10th-ranked American Taylor Fritz and 19-year-old Spaniard Rafael Jodar postponed.
Pegula opened the action on Monday with a nervy service hold for 2-2.
But she could make no inroads on Eala's serve and Eala broke Pegula in the 10th game to take the set and force a third.
The final set was all Eala, to the delight of a vocal contingent of supporters.
Eala had been enthusiastically cheered all week as she made her way to the final with wins over second-seeded Elina Svitolina, third-seeded former world number one Naomi Osaka and defending champion Leylah Fernandez.
Eala is now projected to rise to a career-high 20th in the world.
